Mozilla Thunderbird copy to Sent Problem

When you send an email via IMAP, a less popular but more powerful email protocol, you will experience occasionally. A popup appears with "Error Copying to Sent Folder".



Thunderbird - Error Copying to Sent Folder

This document details a workaround to the problem of Thunderbird reporting an error copying a message to the sent folder.

Important: These procedures have been written for the latest version of this client. If you have problems converting your mail, please update your software to the latest version before contacting the Help Desk.

The following issues are a known bugs with Thunderbird:

  • When sending mail with Thunderbird the program may hang on the step "Copying Mail to Sent folder".
  • You may then get the error message, "Error copying mail to Sent folder" with a prompt to retry.

Follow these steps to resolve the problem:

  1. In Thunderbird pull down Tools and go into Accounts.
  2. Navigate to the Server Settings section of your account and click on the Advanced button.
  3. Change the Maximum number of server connections to cache to be 1
  4. Say Ok and then Ok again. Close and reopen Thunderbird and this problem should be resolved.
